10 MISTAKES EVERY NEWBIE MAKES WHEN USING FONTS FOR THEIR BUSINESS

So you want to DIY your brand until you can afford to hire someone to help, but you just can’t seem to get your fonts right.

Well for one, I think, this is a smart way to get started with your business. So many things change when you first get started with your business that things are more fluid and less solidified. This is all a part of the process.

As you start working on your business and learning more about what direction you really do want to take you’ll have the flexibility to make adjustments and changes. So in a sense, it is really smart to hold off on hiring to design your branding until you have a clearer vision of what the basics of your branding are.

But until then let’s talk about a part of branding and design in general that people often make mistakes using fonts for their business. Luckily with a few pieces of information, you can successfully avoid making these same mistakes.

ME AND THE MIRROR

ME AND THE MIRROR

I have the most beautiful blue-eyed, blond little girl. An airy-fairy one, who gets lost in her world. When I look at her, I see a world of potential. I am a proud mama.

I am sure my mother looked at me the same way when I was born. I am convinced she only saw the best and the most beautiful. Even though mama only believed the best I had to offer; I choose to listen to the lies of the world, as well as the lies of the mirror.

My story isn’t unique, but I am most certainly one of the lucky ones.

When I was 15, I woke up one morning a decided that I am fat, not overweight or unhealthy. FAT! UGLY! GROSS! On that morning I made the conscious decision to starve myself to lose the fatness. I began with an exercise routine and ate as little as possible. In a mere five weeks, I lost 15 kilos. And boy was I proud! I went back to school and felt fabulous. I was thin, and I thought I was prettier.

BOOKKEEPING: IT ISN'T SEXY BUT IT'S WORTH IT!

BOOKKEEPING: IT ISN'T SEXY BUT IT'S WORTH IT!

During my time working in public accounting, I heard many excuses why my clients hadn’t done their bookkeeping. They didn’t have time, they didn’t know how it was boring. It seemed like they would rather do ANYTHING other than their bookkeeping. I can’t say that I blame them. Unless your business is accounting or bookkeeping, you didn’t start your business thinking about bookkeeping but there are three very important reasons why it’s important to keep your business records up to date.

When your business records are up to date, you can:

  • Make more money,

  • Increase profit, and

  • Save tax.

 Now that’s sexy!!

FIVE RELATIONSHIP BUILDING TIPS TO CONVERT YOUR LEADS

FIVE RELATIONSHIP BUILDING TIPS TO CONVERT YOUR LEADS

Are you ready to nurture your leads without feeling like a sleazy car salesman?

Girl, I feel you! I am sick and tired of the sleazy sales tactics that I see on a regular basis. Daily I am being added to Facebook groups without my consent, friend request me and then immediately hit up to like their Facebook page, join their team, or invited to purchase their products. So freaking annoying! It legit drives me, bat sh!t crazy!

I mean, heck, what's a girl got to do to get some lovin' around here. Am I right?

Here's an analogy that I like to share with my clients, think of relationship building with your leads as being no different than dating. Think about it, if your significant other took you on a hot date and on the first date he proposed would you say yes? Hell-to-the-no! Therefore, why is relationship building with your leads any different? It's not!

When building a relationship with your leads you must ROMANCE them much like your significant other did to you. Think of how many dates it took before you felt the butterfly feeling in your stomach and new with beyond a shadow of a doubt that you were IN LOVE.

How many dates was it?

My guess, quite a few. Unless you were like me and fell head over heals in love with my husband on our first date. Trust story! However, I'm the exception to the rule on this one.

The point is that it takes SEVERAL interactions with someone before they fall in love with you, your brand, and your services or products. Yup, several interactions. In fact, according to HubSpot, on average 80% of sales take more than FIVE interactions before one is willing to buy. Pretty alarming right?

How many times have you given up after one or two attempts to convert? My guess, A LOT! Don't worry, there are more people like you that give up before they even truly try and I don't say that to be mean, but I want you to understand that the relationship building process isn't a wham-bam, thank you ma'am sort of thing. It takes TIME to NURTURE your LEADS in order to CONVERT!

I RECEIVED HIS GRACE

I RECEIVED HIS GRACE

After nine years of struggling to conceive, I received God's grace!

On December 10, 2014, I gave birth to a bouncing and beautiful baby boy. To this day, I can't help but look into his sweet face and feel blessed to be his Mom. It's amazing to think that for years, I never thought I would be a Mom and yet, here he is. My perfect, sweet, rambunctious little boy.

My journey to parenthood was long and arduous. There were times I cursed God, turned my back on my faith, questioned everything I was doing, and more.

Am I proud of this behavior?

Nope! However, I know that through my pain and anguish God never left my side despite me turning my back on him. I believe I had to endure the heartache and suffering that I did for me to see the light.

In full transparency, I was incredibly unhappy, depressed, and quite frankly hated life. I was miserable. I walked around with a fake smile and told everyone life was great, when in reality I had never felt more alone, broken, ashamed, and lost. Those nine years were some of the darkest days of my life, and I don't wish them onto anyone.

To share a bit about my journey to parenthood, let me start by backing up to when I was diagnosed with infertility.
